Looks like another classic Halloween character will be returning for the next installment in the franchise to join Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis). Following the announcements of Kyle Richards returning as Lindsey Wallace and Anthony Michael Hall starring as Tommy Doyle yet another name from the original film is making a comeback. Bloody Disgusting reports that Robert Longstreet (The Haunting of Hill House) is set to play Lonnie Elam in 2020’s Halloween Kills.
For those who may not remember Lonnie, he was one of the bullies who tormented young Tommy Doyle. In Halloween (1978) we saw Lonnie being dared to enter the Myers house before being scared off by Doctor Loomis creeping around in the bushes. Since then we had forgotten about Lonnie until it was mentioned in Halloween (2018) that Allyson (Laurie’s grand-daughter) was dating Cameron Elam, Lonnie’s son. With another character from the original film returning to the new installment the nostalgic factor just keeps getting raised and personally I am perfectly okay with that.
Longstreet is no stranger to horror with roles in Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House and the upcoming film adaptation of Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep. Longstreet’s addition to the cast proves Halloween Kills is determined to bring in great actors to breathe life back into characters who helped original shape the world we were introduced to in 1978.
David Gordon Green’s Halloween Kills is set to hit theaters October 16, 2020 and I am sure between now and then we are sure to hear about many more franchise characters making a comeback.
