After recent reports of re-shoots for Shane Black’s The Predator, fans have been pressing for additional information surrounding the latest installment in the franchise. The Predator, co-written and directed by Shane Black, boasts a stellar cast featuring James Franco, Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, Edward Olmos, Jake Busey, and Boyd Holbrook; Black also plays a supporting role in the original 1987 film, Predator, alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. Fred Dekker, known for writing House (1986), Night of the Creeps and Monster Squad, co-wrote The Predator alongside Shane Black.

In a recent Facebook post by Fred Dekker, after disclosing that the film was currently undergoing re-shoots, as mentioned above, states, “..And yes, a teaser trailer will be coming soon...” Fans were immediately drawn to conjuring discourse with Dekker to see what kind of additional details they could get out of him. One fan fortunately got a reply when he asked, “Is it being converted to 3D?.” Dekker simply replies, “Yes.” At this time there are no additional details regarding the latest installment nor a time frame for the teaser trailer, yet one can only anticipate the wide release date of September 14th, 2018; as Dekker emphatically states on his Facebook post,

THE HUNT BEGINS SEPTEMBER 14, 2018.”

Several ties to the original franchise not only include Shane Black’s involvement in The Predator, but John Davis, Lawrence Gordon and Joel Silver have once again reclaimed their role as producers, just as they were previously for Predator and Predator 2. In an interesting turn of events, actor Jake Busey (son of actor Gary Busey) will portray the son of Gary Busey’s character from Predator 2. In an interview with The Red Booth, Jake Busey discusses the ties between The Predator and the original films. Busey states, “So they did Predator 2 with Danny Glover and my dad [Gary Busey].” He continues, “So this, what we just did is now kind of re-inserting itself back into the original narrative of the first two.”
