Legendary scream queen Barbara Crampton has a new horror movie on the way, and we have your first look! The Reborn trailer has a serious 90s b-movie vibe about it and promises a “smart, stylish, and shocking” movie that’s described as “Carrie meets Firestarter” with lots of “rage-fueled teenage angst”. Read on for your first look at the trailer that also features lots of electrical related mayhem and leaves one with the impression that the movie will live up to that trio of blurbs.
A stillborn baby girl is abducted by a morgue attendant and brought back to life by electrokinetic power. On her 16th birthday, she escapes captivity and sets out to find her birth mother, leaving a trail of destruction behind her.
In addition to Barbara Crampton, Reborn stars Kayleigh Gilbert, Monte Markham (We Are Still Here), Michael Pare (Bad Moon), Rae Dawn Chong (Tales From the Darkside: The Movie), and Chaz Bono (American Horror Story). Barbara Crampton is probably best known to horror fans for her roles in Re-Animator (1985) and From Beyond (1986) and, more recently, We Are Still Here (2015) and Beyond the Gates (2016), among many other notable titles. Reborn was directed by The Last Horror Movie‘s Julian Richards from a screenplay by Michael Mahin and produced by Jeannie McGinnis. No release date for Reborn is known at this time, but be sure to stick with Nightmare on Film Street and we’ll keep you posted as soon as we learn more details.
The trailer for Reborn definitively grabbed my attention right off the bat. In my opinion, it looks like a movie that would have hit video store shelves in the 90s. Therefore, count me in.
