We’re finally getting closer to the release of Stephen King’s Castle Rock series on Hulu. The streaming service released the show’s newest teaser trailer this week. With this teaser, titled “This Place” we got a little more insight into the fictional town of Castle Rock. The narrator in the trailer alludes to Castle Rock’s “original sin”, the root of all the evil of the town. But one of the mysteries of this town is what exactly the “original sin” was to cause all of this. As our mysterious narrator asks, “is that when he turned his back on this town?”, we see a high school mascot jump from the roof of a school and fall to the pavement. That’s when we get our “from Stephen King and J.J. Abrams” and instantly the intensity goes up.
Until now, not much has been revealed about the town of Castle Rock. However, the recent trailer describes the town as being stuck in a cycle for years, and is more ominous than what we’ve seen before. One of the most telling things from the trailer is the statement that –
There’s blood in every backyard, inside every house. People say ‘it wasn’t me, it was this place’. And the thing is, they’re right.
If that isn’t ominous I don’t know what is. While we still don’t know exactly what’s going on in Castle Rock, the new trailer definitely sparks the audiences interest. Why do such terrible things happen there? How are all of these characters and Stephen King stories related?
The first Castle Rock teaser wass vague, as most are, presenting the audience with a series of questions rather than answers. From this latest teaser, it feels like there will be a great deal of mystery elements to the plot, while still including elements of shock and horror. And with an official release date of July 25th, 2018, we don’t have much longer to wait.
