Ever wondered how Christine McConnell is able to achieve that perfect balance of 1950s aesthetic and spooky creations? Well, you’re about to find out in her new series, The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell.
In the new trailer for The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell, we see the macabre baking queen crafting delectable spooky treats, from chocolate werewolves to shrunken heads. But, this isn’t just any ordinary cooking show. Sorry, Ina Garten, but this show has something a little different up its sleeve. To help her along the way, McConnell has three puppet companions: a raccoon, a sphynx cat, and a large hairy creature. McConnell twirls around the kitchen, using her serious skills to make things only seen in our nightmares. This is basically a demented Sesame Street-meets-Martha Stewart, or the cooking show of my dreams.
Before The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell, McConnell earned her fame through Instagram. There she shares her deceptively realistic-looking creations, such as her baked Face Hugger or caramel brown recluse spiders. Her skills have also led to her publishing a cookbook, aptly named Deceptive Desserts. It is full of horrifying recipes that any of us could make at home. McConnell makes it look so easy! She offers tips for making the basics, such as how to make caramel, white cake, and icing, everything you need to make your own creepy cakes. Perhaps she’ll bring some of those recipes to life in The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell.
McConnell’s positive and creative attitude, paired with a soft goth aesthetic, will make for quite fun and entertaining TV. The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell is set to premiere on Netflix on October 12. So get that sweet tooth ready for a binge-a-thon. What do you think of McConnell’s new show?
