Letting go and moving on can be hard. Now, take this, amplify it times ten, throw in a dash of Dennis Quaid, and you’ve got the foundation for the upcoming psychological thriller The Intruder. A new trailer has just dropped in which we get a glimpse into this home invasion style thriller. Check it out below:
The film stars the one and only Dennis Quaid (Innerspace, Enemy Mine, Dreamscape) as Charlie Peck, a man who has recently lost his wife under suspicious circumstances. Under the guise of moving on, he has sold his home to young and beautiful Annie and Scott Russell played by Meagan Good (Brick, Think Like a Man, The Unborn) and Michael Ealy (Barbershop, Takers, 2 Fast 2 Furious). However, things quickly take a turn for the worst when it becomes apparent that Charlie is not quite ready to let go of the property.
The film is directed by the multi-faceted and talented Deon Taylor. Best known for films such as Supremacy, Meet the Blacks, and Traffik, Taylor often straddles the line between thriller and horror and The Intruder appears to be no different. While a prolific writer himself, this time Taylor worked with writer David Loughery who is best known for Obsessed, Lakeview Terrace and Dreamscape.
Dennis Quaid is known for being a likable actor and the role as the obsessive and threatening Charlie Peck seems to stray from his usual onscreen personas. That being said, it is for this exact reason that the film may provide an interesting watch. Or, a painful one.
The Intruder is being released by Sony Pictures and shows all the signs of a big studio production. Only time will tell if it manages to be anything more than that. With a release date currently set as April 26th, 2019 there’s going to be a bit of a wait before these questions will be answered.
