B-Movie fans have a lot to be thankful for as of late. First, last week news broke that Nicolas Cage would star in Jiu Jitsu, an action film about a team of martial arts masters protecting earth from an alien invasion. Now, the latest trailer for yet another Dolph Lundgren VOD destined action film has hit the web with an infusion of late night zany action fun accompanied by zombie human attacking violence.

Fresh from his dramatic awaking as Ivan Drago in Creed 2 (2018), Lundgren wastes no time in returning to his hyper male hero action roots with Dead Trigger. Being released by Saban Films, the production company behind such hidden gems as Braven (2018) starring Jason Momoa and Killing Gunther (2017) starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dead Trigger tells the story of an elite soldier (Lundgren), who leads a novice action team against the killing rage of a walking dead army.

In classic Dolph Lundgren fashion, the action star of classic B-movies including Masters of the Universe (1987), Red Scorpion (1988), The Punisher (1989), Universal Soldier (1992) and countless other action gems, stars in a story that is simple in narrative but ambitious in serving action and spectacle. Frankly, what more can you ask for from a Dolph Lundgren action extravaganza? Dolph Lundgren taking on the walking dead, has me sold at first frame.

Still an on screen lethal weapon at 61 years of age, Lundgren with his slicked back black hair and machete thwarting technique, looks extremely comfortable in protecting civilization from a zombie apocalypse. Co-directed by Scott Windhauser the writer of the Rob Cohen directed The Hurricane Heist (2018), Dead Trigger looks like good old fashion Friday midnight viewing fun made even better by an assortment of salty and sweet movie treats.

Co-starring alongside He-Man himself is Autumn Reeser of HBO’s Entourage and Isaiah Washington of Grey’s Anatomy fame. Opening in limited theatres and VOD on May 3rd, this recycled story of a virus turning humans into zombies is given a breath of fresh air with Ivan Drago leading the rescue. Personally, I can’t wait!
