The past few years have felt like we’re living in an episode of The Twilight Zone, so it only makes sense to bring the iconic series back. In the first trailer for the reboot, it touts an all-star cast and quite a few callbacks to the series’ most famous episodes.
The trailer shows Adam Scott reprising William Shatner’s role from the episode, “Nightmare At 20,000 Feet.” However, there’s a shot of a mask of the original airplane-wing-destroying creature washing up on a beach. Does this mean the new episode will take a new, possibly more horrifying turn? Scott is also shown on the beach with debris scattered around him as he talks about potential synchronicities. We’ll have to wait a few weeks to find out what’s really going on, but let’s just hope it’s not caused by those airpods he’s sporting. There are also callbacks to the “Nick of Time” and “It’s a Good Life,” with Jacob Tremblay as the terrifying little boy.

Just from the trailer, The Twilight Zone will also star Tracy Morgan, Steven Yeun, Kumail Nanjiani, Sanaa Lathan, John Cho, and Greg Kinnear. Basically, who isn’t going to be in this show? As if we couldn’t be more excited, it becomes all the more real when the new theme song kicks in and we’re shown Jordan Peele sitting at a booth in a diner, dressed like Rod Sterling. The song stays true to the original, with a darker twist.
As a man tells Sanaa Lathan’s character, “Life sometimes goes like we don’t expect it to” and ain’t that the truth. Perhaps this is just a statement about the way of the word, but perhaps it is also a statement about how this adaptation of the series will go in directions we could never imagine.
All April Fool’s Jokes aside, The Twilight Zone is coming to CBS All Access on April 1st. How many series callbacks can you count in the trailer? Let us know on Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, and in the Horror Fiends of Nightmare on Film Street Facebook group!
