Can you believe the news about the Easter Bunny? He’s settling into early retirement, so Easter is canceled indefinitely… I’m just f*cking with you. Easter may not really be cancelled, chocolate eggs have been stocked on the grocery store shelves since Thanksgiving. However, there is a holiday quickly bringing the month of April to a start, one that no one seems to take seriously. April Fool’s Day may be all about laughs and tasteless pranks, but when the dangerous element of horror meets the punchline the shenanigans can go from all fun and games to a big bloody mess.

Director Adam Mason (Hangman) is about to take a wrench to everyone’s funny bone with his upcoming episode of Blumhouse’s holiday horror anthology series, Into The Dark, with his appropriately inappropriately titled episode, I’m Just Fucking With You.

Written by film collaborators Gregg Zehentner and Scott Barkan (Edge of Fear), I’m Just Fucking With You stars Keir O’Donnell (Wedding Crashers), Hayes MacArthur (She’s Out Of My League), and Jessica McNamee (The Meg) “focuses on a man and his sister who endure a night of increasingly frightening practical jokes during a stay at a secluded motel.” Taking advantage of its deserted California motel setting, the fun and vibrant neon lighting clashes perfectly with the progressively sinister matter making its way to the forefront of this mysterious story.

The first mass released trailer has finally arrived and I’m Just Fucking With You isn’t messing around when it comes to combining practical jokes with thrilling scares all carried out between two very strong, solid leads. O’Donnell appears to be an average guy and seems nice enough, but it looks like a few of his buttons can be pushed way too easily. MacArthur, the unbelievable prankster running the hotel, has clearly had his hand-buzzer ready and waiting to pull one over on the next set of innocent guests. When push comes to shove, will the joke be on him?

I’m Just Fucking With You made its exclusive world premiere at the 2019 SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas as part of the “Narrative Spotlight” screenings. Basically what that means is this whacky plot is a high-profile selection sure to impress as far as the art of storytelling goes. Do you want to hear the coolest part? Deftones’ vocalist and guitarist Chino Moreno scores the episode.

No, I am not fucking with you on that one.

With April Fool’s Day being the only day of the year where we actually celebrate trickery, humiliation, and complete dishonesty, I’m Just Fucking With You digs on some pretty dark deception. The episode will be available to stream exclusively on Hulu on Friday, April 5th, 2019.
