Just when you thought there weren’t any more shark movies to be made, in comes Sky Sharks. Written and directed by Marc Fehse, the latest pelagic horror film has everything: nazis, zombies, sharks that fly and are essentially war machines. These aren’t just sharks with freakin’ laser beams on their heads, a-la-Dr. Evil from Austin Powers. These are full-on weaponized sharks, piloted by supersoldiers, ready to take down humanity.
Here is the full, and ridiculous, synopsis:
“In the Arctic a team of geologists discovers a Nazi warship that was thought to be lost: the Himmelsfaust, a gigantic steel colossus from the Third Reich, brimming with unimaginable destruction machines. On that ship scientists researched top-secret, war-critical weapons and created the Reichsflughaie: rocket-powered monsters whose pilots are genetically mutated, supernaturally endowed supersoldiers with supernatural powers.
Dr. Klaus Richter, the spiritual forefather of this experiment, is forced to stop his deadly army of the undead in order to save humanity and the planet Earth from the seemingly certain doom. His daughters Angelique and Diabla face the threat that their father set up 75 years ago …
Time does not heal all wounds!”
Every word of this synopsis is poetry. Supersoldiers commanding a fleet of flying sharks is something I never knew I needed. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, 2019 continues to prove us wrong with films like Sky Sharks and The VelociPastor. Sky Sharks has been in production for a few years, but this new trailer seems to promise an impending release.
The cast of Sky Sharks is, dare I say, stacked. Tony Todd, yes Candyman himself, will star as Major General Frost. The film will also star Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (Mortal Kombat), Naomi Grossman (American Horror Story: Apocalypse), and the voice of Diana Prince (The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs).
No word yet of when Sky Sharks will be flying onto screens, but we’ll make sure to keep you updated! What do you think of the latest aquatic horror film? Let us know your thoughts on Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, and in the Horror Fiends of Nightmare on Film Street Facebook group!
