Riding on the high of his electrifying comeback, Joe Bob Briggs himself, master of drive-in cinema, teases the content of his upcoming holiday special A Very Joe Bob Christmas.
In an exclusive for Entertainment Weekly, the iconic Joe Bob Briggs drops some hints at just what will he’ll be serving up this time around. “We actually have four movies in a single film franchise that represent the spirit of drive-in Christmas,” he told EW. He goes on to explain that he’s practically performing a public service at this point, keeping you from going out partying and doing something stupid, when you can just kick back at the house and let him do all the entertaining. No regrets in the morning and no walk of shame. Sounds like my kind of holiday party!
In true Briggs fashion he’ll be tallying up the Drive-In Totals during the evening with all that you’ve come to expect from him including but not limited to gallons of blood spilled, dismemberment count, explosions and so much more. This marks the third special of his bloody rebirth on the horror streaming network Shudder, the first being June’s The Last Drive-In and Thanksgiving’s Dinners of Death, all of which are merely a pre-game for his regular ongoing series launching sometime in 2019.
For horror fans, this has been a long time coming, I for one grew up with Joe Bob on TNT’s Monstervision, and there’s never been a better time, or place, for this genre icon to return. Joe’s irreverent and hilarious commentary on the best, and the worst, of B-Movie treasures needs to live on and this is the way to do it. The holiday specials are just the icing on the cake.
So…..four films from one horror franchise. One that embodies the spirit of Christmas and the sacred drive-in. There’s only two weeks left to speculate on just what’s going to air that evening, but no matter what it is, you’re not going to want to miss A Very Joe Bob Christmas.
A Very Joe Bob Christmas streams on Shudder December 21st, 2018 at 9pm EST. Any guesses as to what’s going to play? Let us know (if you’re also betting on Silent Night Deadly Night) over on Twitter, Reddit, and in the Horror Movie Fiend Club on Facebook!
