Good news everybody! Well, not for those of you who hate creepy dolls, then it’s more like bad news. Unless you love M. Night Shyamalan that is, because the first trailer for his Apple TV series Servant just dropped and boy is it a doozy.

Well that went into WTF territory really quick, but it’s Shyamalan so it’s to be expected. The plot synopsis is as follows:

“From M. Night Shyamalan, Servant follows a Philadelphia couple in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy creates a rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force to enter their home.”

What has my interest really peaked is the use of the word “force” in the synopsis. Shyamalan has a history of pulling the rug out from underneath the viewer (sometimes to reveal even more rugs) and the word “force” is  usually something we apply to the supernatural. I’m not sure if that’s where the show is going to go, but I honestly wouldn’t doubt it. There is something really off about this whole trailer that just puts me on edge, which is once again another Shyamalan hallmark.

I’m honestly down for just about anything Shyamalan has his hands on. What he really nails better than almost any other living director is creating a mystery that even if the end product might not be necessarily good, it’s at least interesting. Oh and weird, always weird. People give him a lot of flack for his stuff, there is no one else out there making movies like he does.

The series main cast includes Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under), Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Rupert Grint (Harry Potter series), Nell Tiger Free (Too Old to Die Young), and a creepy lifelike baby doll I will probably be seeing in my dreams tonight.
