[Trailer] Netflix Goes Cyberpunk with ALTERED CARBON

The creepy Netflix train just keeps barreling along! With a slew of freaky originals; 1922, Gerald’s Game, the Dark series, and the series End of the F**king world; N, Netflix shows no signs of slowing down. The media mogul’s latest series, Altered Carbon, will be hitting the platform next month, and we’ve the first Trailer for you!

Oft described as a take on Blade Runner, Altered Carbon, based on the novel of the same name by Richard K. Morgan, follows a wealthy man 300 years in the future, played by James Purefoy (Rome). After his murder, he- while dead, hires Takeshi Kovacs (portrayed by both Joel Kinnaman and Will Yun Lee), a soldier who was killed in action 250 years prior, to help him investigate. His own murder. Still following? It is all made possible by body transplants or soul transplants, or.. something equally sci-fi-ey.

Altered Carbon is created and executive produced by Laeta Kalogridis. The series also stars Martha Higareda, Renee Elise Goldsberry, and Dichen Lachman.

Official Synopsis:

In the distant future, human consciousness can be digitized and downloaded into different bodies. Brought back to life after 250 years by Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy) the richest man on Earth, ex-Envoy soldier Takeshi Kovacs (Joel Kinnaman / Will Yun Lee) must solve Bancroft’s attempted murder for the chance to live again in a world he doesn’t recognize.

Altered Carbon is proving a risky venture for Netflix. The scope of the series seems quite vast and expansive. Kinnamen has described the series as ““a world that’s got a bigger budget than the first three seasons of Game of Thrones.”

Altered Carbon will debut on Netflix, February 2nd. Let us know what you think of the trailer (above) in the comments or by heading to our Facebook Group
