A new trailer just dropped for the new Netflix horror series Chambers which can be seen below. Personally, I hadn’t heard of the series until the trailer hit, and I have to say I’m glad it’s on my radar now. There’s always a place in my heart for a good old-fashioned horror thriller. The trailer really does a great job of setting up the mystery. It feels reminiscent of The Eye (2008) and (for you anime fans out there) Tokyo Ghoul in that it’s about a character who gets a transplant that ruins their entire life.
The official synopsis from Netflix pretty much says the same thing:
Haunted by eerie visions and sinister impulses after a heart transplant, a teenage tries to unmask the truth behind her donor’s mysterious death.
There’s a lot going on in the trailer. We’ve got weird body horror, ghost photography, some kind of witchcraft, and a whole ton of other stuff. It also doesn’t really give away much in terms of plot, rather it just shows clips of horrifying and mysterious things. That way, it doesn’t spoil anything about the mystery and at the same time makes the viewer wonder how all of the stuff they’re seeing fits together.
The only thing here that feels a little off is that the trailer itself is cut in a way that resembles more of a movie and less of a series. I could very much see the same trailer coming from film studios like Blumhouse or A24. Netflix has a bad track record of stretching it’s series length, so I’m hoping that won’t be the case here. Regardless, it will still be great to see Uma Thurman in a horror series. If there’s one thing the world could use more of it’s Uma Thurman.
