We’ve spent months planning our October Halloween Watch-a-Thons. Every night is a highly curated and scheduled spooky watch so we can hit Halloween night running. It’s a yearly tradition, and even the slightest interruption could throw off our entire spooky season. That being said, you are going to have to add another film to your October 19th, as Netflix is set to release Timo Tjahjanto’s The Night Comes For Us. This isn’t a request. It’s necessary.
Netflix’s first Indonesian film, The Night Comes For Us stars Joe Taslim (The Raid: Redemption, Fast and Furious 6) as Ito, a gangland enforcer who has massacred hundreds for his bosses. During one of his recent missions, however, Ito breaks the Six Seas’ only rule: Leave No Survivors. His compassion for a small girl leads to his decision to leave the gang, which is something his bosses are not willing to allow. This leads Ito on a savage quest to remove himself from the gritty underworld and find his redemption.
What follows is a brutal film that left audiences breathless when it was shown at this year’s Fantastic Fest. The Night Comes For Us also stars Iko Uwais (The Raid 2, Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Julie Estelle (The Raid 2’s Hammer Girl) and Sunny Pang (Tjahjanto’s Headshot).
I’m sorry to interrupt your 31 Days of Horror, but this film looks completely awesome! I can’t wait to check it out when it hits Netflix on Friday, October 19th.
