USA Network’s The Purge season two looks to explore the consequences of the purge night in a new trailer.
Season 2 explores how a single Purge night affects the lives of four interconnected characters over the course of the ensuing year, all inevitably leading up to the next Purge. Premiering this fall on USA Network, the second season of the anthology series opens on Purge night but dives deeper than ever before in to what the Purge world looks like the other 364 days of the year.
This is a different take from what we’ve seen in both the film franchise as well as season one of The Purge TV series. Season two stars Derek Luke (13 Reasons Why) as Marcus Moore, Max Martini (13 Hours) as Ryan Grant, Paola Nuñez (The Son) as Esme Carmona, and Joel Allen (Never Goin’ Back) as Ben. Similar to the first season, this one will follow these four individuals and their efforts to survive Purge night, but this time we get to see what happens after.
The season two trailer doesn’t reveal too much, but it does appear that the stories will explore the psychological consequences for the remaining 364 days of the year. Some of the showcased scenes have Ben struggling to contain his rage presumably awoken during the previous Purge. Others depict Marcus‘ home being invaded during the Purge and his concern that the individuals participating were not sated by the violent holiday. Meanwhile, Ryan Grant appears to be involved in a sort of heist, and elsewhere Esme reveals some paranoia possibly heightened by the Purge.
The Purge season two will premier on USA Network on October 15 just in time for Halloween. The first season is available to stream on Hulu, so there’s still time to binge and catch up before season two premiers!
