2018’s Mandy, Revenge and Upgrade, helped give us a new appreciation for tales of sweet, bloody revenge and 2019 looks to continue this streak with A Vigilante. The pulpy noir stars Olivia Wilde as Sadie, a women who aids other women in escaping their domestic abusers while hunting down her own abusive husband. The trailer is vague, but pulses with palpable energy and sports an Olivia Wilde we’ve never seen before.

A Vigilante is the directorial debut of Sarah-Dagger Nickson (directing from her own screenplay) but you wouldn’t know it. The trailer displays sleak, cold cinematography all edited to the punches of Wilde. The film gives me similar vibes to last year’s superb You Were Never Really Here, another grounded revenge flick about a seemingly unstoppable force out for blood. Except here it’s with a more topical subject matter and a woman in the lead, which I’m here for. The trailer also shows our character employing a bevy of disguises in addition to her more violent tactics, giving Wilde a chance to show off her range.

That’ll do it for this trailer breakdown, what do you guys think? I’m always down to see disgusting people get their comeuppance at the hands of their victims, especially when those hands belong to the fierce Olivia Wilde. A Vigilante will premiere on DIRECTV February 28th, arrive at SXSW in March, and have its wide release shortly after on March 29, 2019.

Are excited to see Olivia Wilde kicking ass and taking names in A Vigilante? Will you be in the Austin, Texas area for the SXSW Film Festival premiere?
