Yes, you read that right. The Predator Holiday Special is coming to Comedy Central December 19, 2018 and will be shown during the darkly comedic Bojack Horseman. The holiday short is essentially a look at what might happen should our favorite extra-terrestrial Predators showed up in Santa’s Christmas Village at the North Pole. As we’ve seen in other great re-imagining’s of Santa in Futurama and Scrooged, we can expect these holly jolly elves and reindeer to fight back. The trailer (below) already makes it clear we’ll be getting the gift of gore this Christmas.
In the trailer it seems all is as it should be in the Christmas Village….but not for long. I’m not sure where that reindeer got it’s Gatling gun, but it’s no match for the superior alien tech of the newly arrived Predator.
The holiday special is shot in a stop-motion animation style, evoking the nostalgic look of the many Rankin & Bass holiday shorts from yesteryear, including Santa Clause is Comin’ to Town and Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer. Many of us in the West grew up watching these specials and whoever they got to make this Predator spoof sure knows their stuff. The animation looks great and the voice & music work is spot on.
Most of us horror fans love irreverence and sacrilege. It’s no surprise this gory take on the holiday classics fits the bill perfectly. If you’re looking for something totally inappropriate, something full of blood, guts and laughs, I suggest you tune into Comedy Central come December 19 and check out this holiday special.
In the meantime, check out the trailer and let us know what you think? What are your favorite holiday characters that you’d love to see face off against the Predator? Let us know on Twitter, Reddit, and in the Horror Movie Fiend Club on Facebook.
