Since that billboard appeared in Times Square earlier this week announcing the trailer’s release, all lo(v)ers of IT have been waiting. The wait is over! Our first look at the upcoming IT: Chapter Two is here! Without further ado …

The trailer opens teasing us with the infamous scene in which Beverly visits her childhood home, and is greeted by a sweet older lady. Of course, we all know how that ends. The tension is perfect as the lady goes from nurturing to … Pennywising. What follows is your standard trailer fare. Quick cuts show us the scares and epic scenes that we can expect once we sit in the theaters; red balloons, buckets of blood, bicycles, and of course, Pennywise wonderfully appearing from the dark.

Bill Skarsgård recently spoke with EW on Pennywise’s return, and promises unknown predictability, moreso than the first go-round.

“He’s inflicted fear on his prey, and he’s very focused on fear, but he’s never experienced it himself. Now he’s experienced something that he has been inflicting on others and … there’s a shift leading into the second movie.”

He continues,

“There’s a lot to explore. You can change him or make him whackier, but he’s not really bound to continuity in the sense that a normal character would be. We can explore his unpredictability now that we’ve established the character for the audience. We can still sort of shock them.”

Andy Muschietti returns to the director’s chair using a screenplay written by Gary Dauberman, who also penned the first film. Also returning are all of the original members of the Loser’s Club: Jaeden Martell (Bill), Jeremy Ray Taylor (Ben), Sophia Lillis (Beverly), Finn Wolfhard (Richie), Chosen Jacobs (Mike), Jack Dylan Grazer (Eddie), and Wyatt Oleff (Stanley). The grown Losers Club will be portrayed by James McAvoy (Bill), Jay Ryan (Ben), Jessica Chastain (Beverly), Bill Hader (Richie), Isaiah Mustafa (Mike), James Ransone (Eddie), and Andy Bean (Stanley). Bill Skarsgård returns to terrify as Pennywise the Clown while Javier Botet will return in some shape or form (perhaps another visit from The Leper?).

Ready for the return to Derry, Maine? IT: Chapter 2 hits theaters and IMAX on September 6th.
