A good possession movie hits pretty much all the boxes for me. An antagonist full of jerky, unnatural movements? Check. Complete disorientation and the inability to know what’s real and what isn’t? Check. The horrible, sinking feeling that, even if the heroes do everything correctly, they STILL might lose? You know it. The Possession of Hannah Grace certainly appears to have done its homework. Check out the trailer for it below:
It looks like one to watch through interlaced fingers. The little shifts of the cadaver, especially that awful blink-and-you’ll-miss-it grin she gives to the camera, make The Possession of Hannah Grace appear to be a perfect horror movie to watch in a crowded theater.
The Possession of Hannah Grace focuses on Megan Reed, played by Shay Mitchell (Pretty Little Liars). A former police officer who recently withdrew from rehab, Reed is working the night shift in a morgue when a disfigured corpse is brought in. The corpse is of a girl named Hannah Grace, who died during the middle of a botched exorcism.
As the film’s tagline states, “Death is only the beginning.” Strange events start to occur, and Megan begins to think that the corpse may be playing host to a demonic force. She has to piece together what’s real and what’s merely an illusion before she succumbs to… whatever is inside the boy of Hannah Grace.
The Possession of Hannah Grace is directed by Dierderik Van Rooijen (Taped) and written by Brian Sieve (Teen Wolf and Scream TV shows). In addition to Shay Mitchell, it also stars Grey Damon (True Blood, Station 19), Kirby Johnson (5150), and Stana Katic (Castle).
Even though it comes out after Halloween, The Possession of Hannah Grace looks like one to keep your eyes on. It is scheduled to release on November 30th. Stay tuned to our Twitter and our Horror Group on Facebook for the latest horror news and features.
