Triggered is an upcoming slasher comedy that touches on timely issues. We have both the trailer and the official poster here for you now. In the film, teenage Callee and her friend Ian stage an attack by a serial killer only to wind up as actual targets. In addition to lots of blood drenched neon imagery and an unsettling score, the trailer is chock full of high-praise blurbs that leaves us with the impression that viewers are in for an intelligently written serial killer tale.
Official Synopsis via the film’s official Facebook page:
Callee Bishop has a lot of issues. Besides the fact that her town is full of braindead bigots, there’s a serial killer on the loose and, now, no one’s taking her problems seriously. With the help of her friend, Ian, Callee devises a plan to get the attention back on her and her issues by faking an attack from the killer. Callee’s plan backfires when the real killer sets their sights on the two friends in an effort to make them the victims they’ve been claiming to be. How can Callee and Ian find their way out of their web of lies before the killer claims them as yet another one of their many victims?
Along with the young cast that is led by Meredith Mohler, Jesse Dalton, and Sam Furman, Triggered also stars A Nightmare on Elm Street‘s (1984) Amanda Wyss as the high school principal. Triggered was written and directed by Chris Moore, who was also behind 2016’s Blessed Are the Children. Triggered is expected to be released in 2019.
I wasn’t aware of either of Moore’s films prior to this writing, but they have both piqued my interest. What do you think about the trailer for Triggered? Or have you seen Moore’s Blessed Are the Children? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, and in the Horror Fiends of Nightmare on Film Street Facebook group!
