Death returns in the latest horror film from Universal/Blumhouse, and.. he’s come to play parlor games in Truth or Dare. *cue ominous music* Check out the first trailer for the paranormal-tinged teen flick, above. The rules seem pretty simple: “Tell the truth, or you die. Do the Dare, or you Die. Refuse to play..

Blumhouse has been on a hot streak since early 2017. With Jordan Peele’s widely beloved Get Out, M. Night’s Shyamalan’s surprise sequel Split, and the fresh and fun Happy Death Day in the rear-view, the team is ramping up for another successful year. And, after the surprise box office success of PG 13 rated Happy Death Day, they should be able to jump right back in armed with teen terror Truth or Dare.

Truth or Dare stars Lucy Hale, Tyler Posey, Violett Beane, Nolan Gerard Funk, Hayden Szeto, and Sophia Taylor Ali. The film is directed by Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2Cry Wolf).

Official Synopsis:

Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars) and Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf) lead the cast of Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare, a supernatural thriller from Blumhouse Productions (Happy Death DayGet OutSplit). A harmless game of “Truth or Dare” among friends turns deadly when someone—or something—begins to punish those who tell a lie—or refuse the dare.

Directed by Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2), the thriller co-stars Violett Beane, Nolan Gerard Funk, Hayden Szeto and Sophia Taylor Ali. The film was produced by Blumhouse’s Jason Blum and executive produced by Wadlow.

It should be said, this film bears no affiliation with the 2017 film Truth or Dare that aired on SYFY this past October, though they share both title and premise. SyFy’s attempt proved a surprisingly entertaining popcorn flick, it will be interesting to see how Blumhouse’s spin on the classic-party-game-gone-wrong differs.

Truth or Dare hits theatres on April 27th, 2018.
