Lionsgate has released two new Hellboy TV spots free of foul language but packed with the images that got us amped in Red Band Trailer, like snippets of Alice, played Sasha Lane (American Honey, Hearts Beat Loud) punching the soul straight out of someone, of Ben Daimio, played by Daniel Dae Kim (LOST, Hawaii Five-0) morphing into a jaguar and, of course, of David Harbour (Stranger Things) looking awesome as the eponymous Hellboy.
The pair of action packed new spots, “Never Fear” and “Apocalypse”, also features some blink-and-you’ll-miss-it new footage.
“Never Fear” treats us with a quick shot of Hellboy firing The Samaritan, as well as some additional footage of the battle against Nimue the Blood Queen, played by Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil, Ultraviolet).
“Apocalypse” gives us a closer view of Hellboy on the dragon, brandishing a flaming sword that could be Excalibur.
Hellboy is directed by Neil Marshall, known for genre work such as The Descent and Dog Soldiers, and written by Andrew Cosby (Eureka, Haunted). Based on the footage that we’ve seen so far, it looks like Hellboy is in good hands. Fans of Guillermo del Toro’s two Hellboy film need not worry with Marshall taking up the mantle.
Hellboy is back, and he’s on fire. From the pages of Mike Mignola’s seminal work, this action packed story sees the legendary half-demon superhero called to the English countryside to battle a trio of rampaging giants. There he discovers The Blood Queen, Nimue, a resurrected ancient sorceress thirsting to avenge a past betrayal. Suddenly caught in a clash between the superenatural and the human, Hellboy is now hell-bent on stopping Nimue without triggering the end of the world.
Hellboy is set to hit theatres on April 12th. Are you excited for the re-vamped franchise? Join the conversation with the Nightmare on Film Street community on Twitter, our official Subreddit, and the Horror Fiend Club Facebook Group!
