Trench 11 is from director Leo Scherman, who is best known for co-creating the Gemini-winning series Cock’d Gunns. The film follows a Canadian tunneller named Berton who has to lead a team of American and British troops to a secret underground German base where a deadly new biological weapon is being created. Naturally though, the situation is much more dire because the virus is already loose and turns everyone infected into mindless killers. The film takes place in northern France, in the waning days of the First World War, but it was filmed in and around the Winnipeg area.

Our very own Chris Aitken’s described Trench 11 as a refreshing “new spin on the tired formula [with] and attention to detail [and] a good amount of gore effects“. Trench 11 stars Rossif Sutherland (River, Hyena Road), Karine Vanasse (The Forbidden Room, Polytechnique), Charlie Carrick (Reign), Shaun Benson (ARQ, Channel Zero),  Ted Atherton (River), and German actor Robert Stadlober (Crazy, Summer Storm).

If you can’t make it to the theatre, don’t worry, Trench 11 will be available on Digital and VOD on September 4. For American horror fans, distribution of Trench 11 is being handled by RLJ Entertainment, so stay tuned for release information.
