Another television show is reportedly in the works from writer/producer McG and his Wonderland Sound and Video Studio. Deadline reports that the next project he is tackling is Vampyr, based on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One title of the same name. The project is still in the very early stages, but the word is out that McG will be directing and producing the show. It was optioned by Fox 21 Television Studios.
The Vampyr video game was developed by Dontnod Studios and released on June 5th, 2018. It is a story-driven roleplaying game set in post-World War I London, and follows the story of a doctor named Jonathan Reid. He awakens in a mass grave, having been transformed into a vampire. The main story of Vampyr deals with the good doctor attempting to balance his life’s goal of healing people with his new bloodlust, as well as trying to track down the source of the recent epidemic of vampiric transformations.
As of this writing, Vampyr sits at a 72% rating on Metacritic. There is no word on if the show will follow the storyline of the game, or if it will just be set in a similar world.
McG has seen mixed success as a director. He got his start as a successful music video creator before getting his big break with 2000’s Charlie’s Angels. He has seen his most success as a television producer, helping to create shows like The O.C., Chuck, and Supernatural. His most recent credits include a few different movies for Netflix, including horror comedy The Babysitter, on which he was director and producer.
