Season Eight of AMC’s smash hit, The Walking Dead, premieres Sunday, October 22nd. In anticipation of the new season, Bear McCreary’s score will be released to the public!
If you’re a fan of soundtracks, you probably already familiar with Bear McCreary’s work. For everyone else, just know that you’ve heard his work time and time again. McCreary’s and Emmy-winning artist, and his credits include Battlestar Galactica, Human Target, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., 10 Cloverfield Lane, Colossal, the upcoming Happy Death Day, and of course, The Walking Dead. Even if you just leave your TV on for background noise, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve heard Bear McCreary’s music.
This release will feature highlights from the first seven seasons of the long-running (or shambling) zombie series. These highlights include fan-favorite musical cues, as well as Bear McCreary’s personal favorites. The album will be released in CD and digital formats on Friday, October 20th, with a vinyl LP available for purchase the following Friday, the 27th. The bad news is that this means you won’t be able to drop the needle on this record for the eighth season premiere on the 22nd. The good news is that we live in an era in which new releases are available on both digital platforms and analog vinyl records. Fans have more options for their media consumption than ever before, and that’s worth noting.
The score will be released by Lakeshore Records, in conjunction with Bear McCreary’s own label, Sparks & Shadows. The album can be pre-ordered here. The CD and iTunes releases will be available Friday, October 20th, with the vinyl release available on Friday, October 27th. And remember: if there are more than two Daryls at your Halloween party, you’re obligated to kick some to the curb.
