The date we have all been waiting for is fast approaching. There’s a feeling of emptiness in our guts and a fullness in our wallets. We are ready. The physical release of Andy Muschietti’s It is less than two weeks away, and retailers across the continent are trying whatever they can get our dollars in their pockets. Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, has just thrown their hat into the ring with an exclusive edition DVD version of the film.

Best Buy and Target have already made announcements for their versions of the top grossing horror film of 2017. The new Walmart edition, while we are still a little short on specifics, looks to only be for the DVD version instead of the Blu-Ray/4k editions carried by the other retailers. The Walmart version will feature an exclusive cover for the film, matching the Barnes and Noble Exclusive Picture Disc Soundtrack Vinyl.

Although this hasn’t been confirmed by Walmart, we can only assume that their version of the film will carry the same special features as the other retailers. These features include:

  • Pennywise Lives! –  Discover how Bill Skarsgård prepared to portray the primordial creature known as Pennywise the Dancing Clown
  • The Losers’ Club – Get up close and personal with the teenage stars of It as they bond together during the production
  • Author of Fear  Stephen King reveals the roots of his best-selling novel, the nature of childhood fear and how he created his most famous monster, Pennywise
  • Deleted Scenes – Eleven deleted or extended scenes from the film

With the announcement of a special Director’s Cut being released in 2018 as well, it looks like Warner Brothers is trying to capitalize on their newly-crowned hottest property. Even for die-hard fans like myself, it’s starting to become a little tiresome constantly fighting the studio executives off of our mortgage payments. Can January 9th please just get here already?!?!
