Zach Lipvosky & Adam Stein’s dark and dangerous “superhero” thriller Freaks has been on an incredible journey since its world premiere at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival. Making the rounds on the worldwide festival circuit, Freaks has built a strong reputation built on buzz, word of mouth, and several awards at the Brussels International Film Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival, and Paris International Film Festival.

Freaks is finally making it’s theatrical debut August 23 and Well Go USA has just dropped a new trailer ahead of the release date which you can check out below. Directed by Zach Lipvosky & Adam Stein and stars Amanda Crew (Tone Deaf), Emile Hirsch (An Evening With Beverly Luff Linn), and Bruce Dern (Once Upon A Time in Hollywood) as the mysterious Mr. Snowcone.

According to the official synopsis from Well Go USA Entertainment, Freaks tells the story of 7-year-old Chloe, who lives“locked inside the house by her father, … in fear and fascination of the outside world, where Abnormals create a constant threat – or so she believes. When a mysterious stranger offers her a glimpse of what’s really happening outside, Chloe soon finds that while the truth isn’t so simple, the danger is very real”.

Freaks hits theatres August 23, after a San Diego Comic Con 2019 screening in partnership with Well Go USA and Collider. And if you happen to be in the Montreal area, the film is also playing at the 2019 Fantasia Film Festival coming almost full circle after a long year of successful festival showings following its world premiere at the 2018 Toronto International Film Fefstival. Full details and tickets to the Fantasia screenings can be purchased HERE.
