Funko has made huge strides within collectibles in recent years.  June of this year they’ll be adding a new product, Funko Cereal.  The first wave is set to include a few fan-favorite horror icons; like Freddy Krueger, Elvira Mistress of the Dark, Beetlejuice, and more!

What is Funko?

The company started in 1998 and specializes in making collectibles.  The majority of their products are pop culture figurines ranging in a variety of sizes.  The horror genre is well represented in their line ups with nearly every major horror icon appearing in some form.

A documentary, Making Fun – The Story of Funko debuted recently taking a look back on their journey so far.  Within the debut a few interviews provided new information. At the Coronado debut the news of the Funko cereal line coming this year was revealed.  Mike Becker, founder of Funko, was the one to divulge the information.

What’s in the box?

It’s been revealed that Funko cereal will come with a price tag of $7.99. It will be sold in Collectibles stores such as FYE instead of grocery stores.  Additionally each box will include a miniature figurine of the licensed character adding to the collectible value.  Of the characters announced the first wave will include Elvira, Freddy Krueger, and Beetlejuice.  Becker gave some details of the cereals stating “when you add milk to the Freddie Kruger [sic] cereal, it looks blood red. With the Beetle Juice [sic] cereal, when you add milk it looks like slime.”  More details from the documentary debut can be found here.  The inclusion of Beetlejuice is especially a nice touch to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the film.

Overall Funko cereal looks to be a fun little collectible to pick up when it’s released.  The boxes have a nice 80’s feel to them that are sure to feed on our nostalgia.  Keep your eyes peeled for it in stores June 2018.
