It’s always exciting when horror veterans get together on one project. Today, that excitement comes from the latest news about We Summon the Darkness. The film, which began filming this week, will star Alexandra Daddario, who horror fans will recognize immediately. She starred in HBO’s megahit True Detective and 2013’s Texas Chainsaw 3D. Helming the film is Marc Meyers, certainly horror-famous for his 2017 psychological thriller My Friend Dahmer. With names like these attached to a project, something exciting is sure to be on its way.
This news comes to us from THR, who also gave us a snapshot of the film’s plot. The movie’s backdrop is a series of satanic cult killings. The story follows some young musicians that get caught up in them, but in a strange way.
Three best friends embark on a road trip to a heavy-metal show, where they bond with three aspiring musicians and head off to one of the girls’ country home for an afterparty. A night of fun and youthful debauchery takes a deadly turn as bodies begin to pile up, with each side thinking the other hides the killer.
Daddario will play the head of the group of girls while acting opposite Nashville star Keean Johnson. This exciting twist on the killer-in-the-house, whodunnit slasher was written by Burying the Ex scribe Alan Trezza. The film’s marketing team hasn’t specified a release date yet, but we’ll be sure to let you know when they do.
What’s your favorite cult-horror flick? Let us know on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. We kind of have a cult going there! Of course, I’m only kidding. The only cult we have going is The Order of the Nameless One, which is more of a Snapchat group. For all of your upcoming horror movie news, keep lurking at Nightmare on Film Street.
