Four roles in Dave Franco’s directorial debut The Rental are no longer vacant: Deadline reports that Alison Brie and Dan Stevens will be starring alongside Sheila Vand (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night) and Jeremy Allen White (Showtime’s Shameless). The Rental is a horror thriller produced by Black Bear Pictures and Franco’s Ramona Films, and the script was written by Franco and Joe Swanberg (V/H/S segment “The Sick Thing That Happened to Emily When She Was Younger”). Shooting begins next month in Oregon.

Not a lot has been revealed so far about the plot, but right now The Rental is said to center on two couples renting a vacation home for a celebratory weekend away.

The film’s producers are Elizabeth Haggard, Ben Stillman, Teddy Schwarzman, Ramona Films’ Vince Jolivette. Executive producers are Sean Durkin and Black Bear Pictures’ Michael Heimler.

On working with Black Bear Pictures for his first film as a director, Franco told Deadline that…

“…[he] couldn’t be more excited about partnering with Black Bear and to be working with such an amazing group of actors.”

Dave Franco, who is married to fellow actor Alison Brie, isn’t new to horror as he’s acted in several frightening features. His filmography includes The Shortcut, the 2011 Fright Night remake, and Warm Bodies. Dan Stevens is no stranger to the genre either as he’s starred in films like The Guest and most recently, Apostle. The Rental‘s co-writer Joe Swanberg has appeared both behind and in front of the camera. You may remember him from films like The Sacrament and You’re Next as well as the segment “Second Honeymoon” in V/H/S. Alison Brie is best known for working in comedies like Community and Glow, but Scream 4 fans will surely remember her as Sidney Prescott’s assistant in the franchise’s fourth installment.
