Some interesting news dropped about the upcoming Edgar Wright horror-thriller, Last Night in Soho. It appears that young horror veteran, Anya Taylor-Joy has just been cast as one of the leads.
Last Night in Soho is penned by Wright along with Krysty Wilson-Cairns. She is best known as her work as staff writer for the horror television show Penny Dreadful. It will be interesting to see what the two of them can team up to do for this next flick, especially looking back at Wright’s previous credits for writing/directing. My personal favorite is the zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead as well as the other two films in the trilogy, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End. The latter two are not strictly horror, but Hot Fuzz does have slasher elements and The World’s End involves friends trying to prevent the end of the world. Currently Plot details for Last Night in Soho are still unknown. What we do know, is that it is a psychological horror thriller set in London with a female lead. It will be interesting to see what Wright can do, especially if the lead is Taylor-Joy.
As I’ve kind of alluded to already, Taylor-Joy is only a mere 22 years old, but she burst onto the horror scene in 2015’s The Witch. Since then she’s been a horror regular with films like Split, Marrowbone and Thoroughbreds. She also appeared in Glass earlier this year, in which she reprises her role from Split and that film is enjoying a lot of success in the theater. She is quite busy as well with ten other films that are upcoming, a few of them in the genre.
