Are you hype for the upcoming series, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina? Well get even more excited because the first season will contain an episode inspired by the horror classic, The Exorcist.
In an interview with EW, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said that each episode of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will be a mini-movie. He also revealed that one of these mini-movies will be inspired by The Exorcist, one of his favorite films. In the interview, Aguirre-Sacasa said, “I love The Exorcist. It’s one of my favorite movies. We’re doing an homage to that; we’re doing an episode that’s like [The Exorcist]”.
He is just delightfully vague enough to pique our curiosity. Who is getting possessed? Will heads spin? Will Sabrina spew pea soup? Will Sabrina have to fight a demon or two? We’ll have to wait until the end of October to find out.
Set in the 1960s, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will follow Sabrina Spellman, played by Kiernan Shipka of Mad Men fame, shortly before her sixteenth birthday. As her birthday approaches, she must make a choice: to remain human or venture into the world of witches, leaving her mortal life behind. We don’t know much beyond that, but between the existing love for the series and this Exorcist news, it’s going to be a must-watch this fall.
The series is an adaptation of Aguirre-Sacasa’s 2014 comic, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and a spinoff of the hit show, Riverdale.
The first season of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina hits Netflix on October 26, just in time for Halloween binge-watching. Are you excited for the new series? What other films do you think will show up?
