[Creepy Cocktails] Shake up the Holiday Season with a Nightmare Before Christmas Themed “Peppermint Sandy Claws” Cocktail

If you’re a fan of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, you know it’s a film that perfectly stitches together the spooky charm of Halloween with the whimsical joy of Christmas. In that spirit, we’ve concocted a special holiday treat; the Peppermint Sandy Claws cocktail! This creamy holiday drink is a toast to Nightmare Before Christmas’ unique blend of festive cheer and gothic enchantment, perfect for those who like their Christmas with just a hint of Halloween magic.

Snow falls gently over the cresting hills of Christmas Town. Puffy white clouds erupt from a chugging candy train. Rainbow Christmas lights gleam from every roof, door, and entryway. This is the moment Jack Skellington, filled with wonder, discovers the joy and warmth of Christmas. That’s the essence we’re capturing in this cocktail. It’s a celebration of Jack’s awe as he explores a world so different from his own, yet so inviting. The Peppermint Sandy Claws is a nod to that magical moment of discovery, one where even the creepiest souls can find a touch of cheer.

Let’s be real here. This is a peppermint martini with a white cocoa kick. It’s smooth, creamy, and surprisingly potent. While it might look simple and un-spooky at first glance, this christmas cocktail embodies Jack Skellington to a T; a skeleton white color, served in a tall, slender martini glass, and it’s all dressed up like Santa with crushed peppermint candies.

The Peppermint Sandy Claws Cocktail

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Peppermint Schnapps
  • 1/2 oz White Crème de Cacao
  • 2 oz Oat Milk
  • Crushed Peppermint Candies (for rimming)
  • A Mini Candy Cane (for garnish)
  • An Extra Peppermint Candy (to place at the bottom of the glass for color and a sweet surprise)

Glass Type:

  • Martini Glass

Instructions:

  1. Start by rimming your martini glass with crushed peppermint candies, adding a festive touch right off the bat. There are plenty of ways to get those candies to stick. To keep in the theme of this cocktail, we suggest rolling the rim in grenadine or melted chocolate before rolling in the crushed candies.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, blend the peppermint schnapps, white crème de cacao, oat milk, and vodka with ice. Shake until well chilled.
  3. Place a peppermint candy at the bottom of the glass, then strain the cocktail over it. Watch as the candy slowly infuses a soft, pink hue into the drink, reminiscent of the snow-covered hills of Christmas Town.
  4. Add a mini candy cane on the rim for that final Christmas touch, one that’s reminiscent of the many curled hills in Halloween Town.

There you have it, the Peppermint Sandy Claws, a creepy cocktail that’s as heartwarming and inviting as Jack Skellington’s discovery of Christmas joy. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the most unexpected combinations can create the most delightful results. (and even us Halloween Humbugs can find some Christmas spirit!)
