It’s time to get out of the water and play a board game! It has been 45 years since the Jaws novel by Peter Benchley hit stands and almost 44 years since Stephen Spielberg’s iconic adaptation, forever making us think twice about a dip in the ocean. Now you can bring the fun of Jaws to your table. German game company Ravensburger is bringing us fiends a new, officially licensed Jaws board game. And the best part – you can play as the shark!
Described as “a game of strategy and suspense”, the Jaws board game is divided up into two acts titled “Amity Island” and “The Orca”. In the first half of the game, “Amity Island” – one player takes the role of the shark, terrorizing the waters around the island, while the other players work to locate the shark and save the tourists. Once the shark is located, the second half of the game kicks in.
We are now aboard “The Orca” and our players must work together to defeat the shark as Quint, Brody, and Hooper before the boat is ripped apart. The game’s unique two act layout mirrors the film itself and allows for a variety of different outcomes. Maybe the shark wins. Maybe this time, Quint survives! Maybe all three of our heroes survive!
Not only does this game sound as fun weekend trek to Amity Island (without the shark), but it looks great as well. The board, the cards, the art, it all just gets you excited to play. So which character do you want to play? Or maybe the shark is the role for you?Let us know on Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, and in the Horror Fiends of Nightmare on Film Street Facebook group! And don’t miss out on the Jaws board game when it drops in June 2019 for $30.
