When you head to a friend’s funeral, you expect them to stay dead, especially when you haven’t talked to them in quite a while. But that isn’t the case in Australian director Caitlin Koller’s first feature-length film, 30 Miles from Nowhere. Sound exciting? Well you don’t have to wait for long, because this friendship-turned-horrific film is set to hit digital and VOD on March 5th.
30 Miles from Nowhere official synopsis:
“The film follows five ex-college buddies who return to the summer home of their youth for their scientist friend’s funeral. But mourning turns to terror when they realize their reunion is not at all what it seems.”
From the brief synopsis and trailer, it looks like this may be some kind of Frankenstein and Re-Animator situation, with a little bit of supernatural torture porn sprinkled in. From blood spurting out of the shower to waking up covered in cockroaches, potentially caused by your dead estranged friend, it looks like 30 Miles from Nowhere will be a wild ride that takes the typical friends-meet-in-the-woods-and-it-all-goes-wrong horror trope and tries to make something new.
Emmy-award winner Carrie Preston (True Blood) will start in 30 Miles from Nowhere, along with Rob Benedict (Supernatural), Cathy Shim (Reno 9-1-1), Rusty Schwimmer (Wild Honey), Marielle Scott (Lady Bird), and Birgundi Baker (The Chi).
While this is Koller’s first feature-length film, she isn’t new to the horror genre. She’s previously directed two horror shorts, Blood Sisters (2017) and Maid of Horror (2013). Alongside Koller, Seana Kofoed (Donna’s Revenge) penned the film’s script.
Along with its release date, 30 Miles from Nowhere is also available for preorder on Amazon and will have its official premiere in Los Angeles on March 4. Are you excited for this film?
