You know The Mothman, you love Bigfoot, but have you heard of Frogman? Now, this next sentence is gonna sound really crazy if you haven’t seen Anthony Cousins’ 2023 found footage mockumentary Frogman, but the horror world’s most f*ckable cryptid is back, in Frogman Returns! If you like found footage movies, or if you like cryptids, I’m sure you’ve already seen Frogman. But if you haven’t- drop everything you’re doing this weekend and go get caught up because there’s another one coming at ya fast, and this sequel totally expands the Frogman universe.
By the end of the previous movie, our main character Dallas (Nathan Tymoshuk) has lost everything. His relationship prospects dissolved and his best friend was turned into a human-frog mutant monster (spoiler alert), but he got a ton of monster footage for the world to see. In Frogman Returns, he has proven that monsters are real with his wildly successful documentary, but he’s been relegated to the reality TV space. When we join him in this new story, he’s become more of a Zak Bagans character, hunting cryptids down episode by episode.
“Frogman Returns dives headfirst into [the cryptid] rabbit hole to give you maximum monsters.”
One of my favourite moments is actually the first cryptid they find. It’s a strange, disembodied pair of otherworldly legs that roam a small-town golf course. I don’t think that’s a real cryptid, but I really wish they existed. Before long, Dallas learns that his ex-love interest Amy (Chelsey Grant) is headed back to Loveland, Ohio to hunt Frogman, so he packs up his bags to finish what he started. Along of the ride are some of the crew members on the reality show, but the missing remains the same: Find Frogman.
Along the way, we also run into a creepy Frogman-worshipping cult named “The Children of Frogman”. They’re super gross, they’re crazy weird, but we eventually find our way back to Frogman himself, and it is one hell of a showdown. If you are a fan of Cryptids and you subscribe to that theory that they all come from another dimension, you’re going to appreciate how Frogman Returns dives headfirst into that rabbit hole to give you maximum monsters.
If you want a ton of cryptids in your found footage movie, you gotta check out Frogman Returns. And I won’t give too much away, but let’s just say that if you’re a fan of Army of Darkness, I think you’re really gonna appreciate where the Frogman franchise is headed. There’s a potential for more Frogman movies, and I think they’re about to get even crazier from here.
“Frogman F*cks 🐸“
There are some wild ideas in Frogman Returns. We go to some really cool places, we get some hilarious Frogman action, and I highly recommend it. This is a perfect movie to watch on the weekend with your friends. It is a total party, it’s only 70 minutes long (the perfect length!), and let’s not forget, Frogman F*cks 🐸
Anthony Cousins’ Frogman Returns is an official selection of Panic Fest 2026. Click HERE to follow our continued coverage of the festival and let us know if you’re excited to see Frogman F*ck again over in the Nightmare on Film Street Discord!
