Thalassophobia is the fear of the ocean. It’s a common, understandable fear and the secrets held within the murky depths have been fodder for a whole sub-genre of horror films. Playing upon this idea, Universal Studios Orlando has added a new deep sea-centric haunted house to their roster titled ‘Depths of Fear.’
Here’s a quick glimpse at what the house has in store for the brave souls who dare to venture in:
The workers of a deep-sea mining company have found themselves in a dire situation. They’ve delved too deep and encountered a parasitic race of creatures that turn out to be deadly. Panic ensues as you find yourself encountering infected miners and acidic creatures. The pressure builds as the self-destruct sequence counts down to the inevitable implosion of the facility.
As you venture further into the depths, you’ll encounter the creatures known only as the “Mouthbrooders.” Picture being trapped in a claustrophobic mining installation underwater with a countless number of these slithering monsters. Your worst nightmares will come to life as these fiends spew flesh-eating acidic eggs at human hosts, and you witness miners being driven mad by the infection.
‘Depths of Fear’ is certain to play upon the creepiest traits and creatures that the ocean has to offer. This is the 4th house to be revealed out of a total 10 houses that will occupy the Universal Studios grounds. Other previously announced haunted houses include a Stranger Things themed house, a Universal Monsters themed house and an original house titled ‘Nightingales: Blood Pit.’ Along with the haunted houses, there will also be 5 scare zones, live entertainment and much more.
Halloween Horror Nights Orlando runs from September 6-November 2nd on select nights. More announcements are sure to follow as the opening day draws near.
