The long-delayed third entry in the Jeepers Creepers franchise hit another bump in the road yesterday when it was announced the upcoming premiere has been cancelled. Originally slated for September 13th at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatre in Los Angeles, the sold-out event was also slated to have cast members in attendance for a live Q&A.
Due to Director Victor Salva’s unsavory past (he was convicted in 1998 of sexually assaulting a young actor on the set of Clownhouse for the purposes of producing child pornography), the film’s very existence has proved controversial from the start. Once word of the premiere got out, it didn’t take long for the protesters to take action. Theatre owners stated the protesters claimed they had plans to picket not only the night of, but every night leading up to the premiere. To avoid the negative press and loss of sales, the TCL were forced to opt out.
Shortly after, all who purchased tickets received the following message via Fandango:
Dear Valued Customer,
We would like to inform you that due to events beyond our control, the screening event hosted by @Moviedude18 for “Jeepers Creepers and Jeepers Creepers 3” on Wednesday September 13, 2017 will no longer take place at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause your party. We have worked with Fandango to refund your purchase directly. You should see the refund in your account within the next few days. We would like to offer you free passes. You may redeem them at the box office upon your next visit by showing this email or we can mail them to you if you provide us with your mailing address.
Again, we apologize for the inconvenience.

Jeepers Creepers 3 is written and directed by Victor Salva. The film stars Gina Philips, Meg Foster, Brandon Stacy, and Stan Shaw. Jonathan Breck will reprise his role as the Creeper. The film is still scheduled for nationwide release on September 26th.
