Jenna Elfman has been cast for the 4th season of AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead. Known for her role as Dharma in the 90’s sitcom Dharma & Greg, Jenna Elfman has been brought on amid some big changes to the show behind the scenes. Elfman’s casting comes only a few days after announcements of Garret Dillahunt (Deadwood, No Country For Old Men) joining the series. (FUN FACT: Garret Dillahunt previously auditioned for the role of Negan in The Walking Dead.) Details of Elfman and Dillahunt’s involvement in season 4 of Fear the Walking Dead are still unknown. Both have been brought on as season 4 regulars but no word if they are to remain on for future seasons. That said, given the reception of the series, AMC has been cautious in it’s renewals of the series.
A spin-off of it’s parent-series, Fear the Walking Dead as yet to find an audience as engaged as The Walking Dead‘s. Despite the struggles of the show to gain a similar fanbase, the season 4 renewal from AMC shows the network is confident in the show’s performance. New showrunners Andrew Chambliss & Ian Goldberg will no doubt breath new life into the undead saga. The two have worked previously on Once Upon A Time with Chambliss also holding credits for The Vampire Diaries and Dollhouse. David Erickson’s exit as showrunner after season 3 was of course planned and, according to The Hollywood Reporter, he will stay on as a development executive for futures series at AMC.
The prequel series to Robert Kirkman’s cultural phenomenon has began the move toward crossovers in the two series’ timelines. In the final episode of Fear The Walking Dead‘s it was teased that the characters would begin the journey to Texas. This, as fans no doubt know, could mean the return of The Walking Dead‘s Abraham, who was killed off in a previous season. Regardless, next year is sure to be an interesting time for horror as two of television’s most popular programs converge on each other.
