Prepare for more tales of the unusual as Jordan Peele’s reboot of The Twilight Zone has been renewed for a second season. Although the latest update of the classic Rod Serling anthology series is only five episodes deep in its first season at CBS All Access, the reboot has garnered more than enough interest to warrant the renewal. It was reported by the streamer itself that the April 1st premiere of the series clocked the highest amount of unique viewers for a CBS All Access original.
The plot of the show is what you would expect from something in the Twilight Zone franchise—a collection of self-contained anecdotes rooted in science fiction or horror are narrated by an enigmatic host. The honor of emceeing this supernatural series goes to no other than developer and executive producer Jordan Peele himself.
So far in the first season, we’ve witnessed five different stories of suspense and strangeness—”The Comedian” (A stand-up comic acquires a dangerous power), “Nightmare at 30,000 Feet” (A journalist suspects his flight is going to crash), “Replay” (A mother does the impossible to keep her son safe), “A Traveler” (Mistruths are explored on an ominous Christmas Eve), and “The Wunderkind” (A child elected U.S. President means bad things for the country).
The cast of the first season includes notable actors such as Adam Scott, Sanaa Lathan, Steven Yeun, John Cho, Jacob Tremblay, Taissa Farmiga, Ginnifer Goodwin, Kumail Nanjiani, Chris O’Dowd, Ike Barinholtz, and Seth Rogen.
New episodes of The Twilight Zone air Thursdays on CBS All Access. There you can also see the original series in its entirety.
