I always say there’s a horror movie for every holiday. Some of have even spawned numerous sequels. Take, for example, the popular 90s franchise Leprechaun. The first movie came out twenty-five years ago and we’re still getting new entries. The latest, Leprechaun Returns, involves a group of sorority girls who awaken the titular killer after they tear down a cabin in order to build a new sorority house. Read on for a look at the brand new poster.
Leprechaun Returns is the eighth film in the long running franchise that has taken the evil leprechaun from Las Vegas to space and then to the hood (twice). Starring in the new film are Taylor Spreitler (Amityville: The Awakening), Heather McDonald (Dance Flick), and Mark Holton, who reprises his role of Ozzie from the first film. This time, series regular Warwick Davis is out. Instead of Davis, Linden Porco has taken over the role of the murderous leprechaun. Steven Kostanski (The Void) directed.
There are a few things that I find interesting about the poster. The fact that the leprechaun is shown climbing out of a well makes me think this is a direct sequel to the original, that and the fact that Mark Holton is returning as Ozzie. We could also assume that the cabin the sorority plans to demolish is the same from the original movie. All of this has me pondering if we’re facing a Halloween-like sequel. Is every entry after the original being dropped? Time will tell.
Leprechaun will return several months before St. Patrick’s Day. The film will be available on streaming services beginning December 11, 2018. Are you a fan of the series?
