We’ve still got a ways to go before director Shane Black’s (The Nice Guys, Monster SquadThe Predator hits theaters. But just because the main course isn’t ready, doesn’t mean we can’t have a little snack in the mean time. Thanks to the folks over at MTV we’ve got an appetizer to tide us over. In a series of on set interviews, the cast of The Predator give us a taste of just what kind of movie we should be expecting.

The video puts a lot of the things we’ve seen in the trailer in perspective. For instance, just who is this movie about?

 

“The star of the movie is the predator, you know?” Said Olivia Munn, ” We are all here to make it as believable as possible, so that when the fans are at home or in the theater watching this that they believe this world.”

“It does this razor edge sort of tightrope walk,” added Boyd Holbrook (Narcos, Logan) “the balance of it being a thriller, it being somewhat of a horror film and that has all of these comedic beats that sort of loosen the tension in a way that only Shane Black can do.”

If the sound of a “Thriller-Horror-Comedy” hybrid turns you off, don’t worry. Sterling K. Brown (Hotel ArtemisBlack Panther) has got you covered.  “People die in this movie. I don’t want to… Spoiler Alert. People are going to die.”

 

 

The Predator‘s cast includes Thomas Jane (Deep Blue Sea, Boogie Nights), Edward James Olmos (Blade Runner, Coco), Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes ( Moonlight, 12 Strong), Jacob Tremblay (Room, Before I Wake), Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones, John Wick), Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale, Headland), and Keegan Michael Key (Key & Peele, Keanu).

The official film synopsis,

From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.

 

The Predator returns to the hunt on September 14th.
