The time where we get to see 3 From Hell in its finished form is fast approaching, and now apparently we need to be prepared for anything. Rob Zombie hinted on his Instagram recently that we should expect “many bizarre cameos” in the upcoming film. This was accompanied by a picture of Chaz Bono in a brown fedora and a plaid shirt. Presumably Chaz will make a cameo in the film, but any other potential cameos, bizarre or otherwise, remain speculation for now.
3 From Hell is the third movie in Zombie’s hardcore slasher series about the murderous Firefly Family. The first film, 2003’s House Of 1000 Corpses, was a surprise horror hit in the spring, opening in a strong second place and eventually grossing $17 million on a budget of anywhere from $4 to $14 million, depending on who you ask and what day it is. The sequel, 2005’s The Devil’s Rejects, also did well, grossing nearly $20 million in total. The films are stylish grindhouse horror, influenced by American horror classics of the Seventies like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) and The Hills Have Eyes (1977); the second film also incorporates the dust and despair of American road movies like Bonnie And Clyde (1967) and The Wild Bunch (1969).
The third film has wrapped filming and is in post-production. While virtually nothing has been released regarding the plot, or who else these bizarre cameos might entail, we at least know some of the cast. The film will continue the story of the Firefly family: Captain Spaulding, played by Sid Haig (Death House); Otis B. Driftwood, played by Bill Mosley (Death House, American Exorcist); and Sheri Moon Zombie (31). Also in the film will be the legendary Danny Trejo (reprising his role as Rondo from The Devil’s Rejects), Daniel Roebuck (The Fugitive, Lost), and Jeff Daniel Phillips (the Geico Caveman commercials, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).
