The Marvel Cinematic Universe has become so vast, that practically half of Hollywood has at some point made some kind of an appearance in a Marvel movie. Such is the case with Anthony Mackie (Falcon in The Avengers) and Frank Grillo (Crossbones in Captain America). If anything, it proves that these actors are fully prepared for action in any capacity. However, Mackie recently showed his emotional side in Black Mirror: Striking Vipers. He and Grillo will pair up in the upcoming action thriller Point Blank, which will be available to stream on Netflix on July 12, 2019.

Loosely based on the 2010 French thriller of the same name (originally À bout portant), it follows ER nurse Paul (played by Mackie), whose pregnant wife is kidnapped by dirty cops. If he wishes to save her, he must (for some reason) help a notorious criminal (played by Grillo) escape from the hospital. Paul manages to evade the police and wheel the murder suspect to freedom. Grateful, the hardened criminal offers to help Paul save his wife and kill the dirty cops who abducted her (even though they are the reason he’s free, don’t think about it too much). Paul is dragged along on a wild ride, forced to fight and break the law in numerous ways, having no previous criminal experience outside of playing Grand Theft Auto.

The movie is directed by Joe Lynch, who also directed other adrenaline-pumping thrillers like Mayhem and Everly. If you’ve been listening to Lynch’s podcast The Movie Crypt with his co-host Adam Green, you might have noticed Lynch was absent for a few interviews to concentrate on Point Blank. Lynch still has the horror director edge, so expect to see a few creative kills, and lots of blood.
