Looks like we’ve got ourselves an old fashioned human hunting movie! The first trailer just dropped for Blumhouse’s new film The Hunt. The official synopsis gives some more detail to that:

“In the shadow of a dark internet conspiracy theory, a group of globalist elites gathers for the very first time at a remote Manor House to hunt humans for sport. But the elites’ master plan is about to be derailed because one of the hunted, Crystal, knows The Hunters’ game better than they do. She turns the tables on the killers, picking them off, one by one, as she makes her way toward the mysterious woman at the center of it all.”

I’m a huge fan of the short story The Most Dangerous Game, so when I saw this trailer I was sold almost immediately. Much like The Purge series. the basis for The Hunt has a ton of potential for social and political commentary. The Purge movies from a thematic, and eventually narrative standpoint are about how the rich use The Purge to quite literally kill poor and marginalized people and keep them in line without having to lift a finger. The difference between the two though seems to be that in The Hunt, the rich people are actually doing the killing themselves rather than cowardly getting others to do it.

The film is directed by Craig Zobel of Compliance (2012) fame, and written by Damon Lindelof and Nick Cuse. It also stars, Emma Roberts, Justin Hartley, Hillary Swank, Ike Barinholtz, and Glenn Howerton.

You can take a trip to The Manor when The Hunt drops on September 27th. Are you as excited as I am? Or could you do without? Head on down to our Twitterthe Horror Movie Fiend Club on Facebook, and Subreddit to share your thoughts!
