Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the, um- living room. Okay, so Killer Sofa might not be the Jaws (1975) of furniture films but It is described as Electric Dreams (2017) meets Christine (1983), however, that doesn’t discount the fact that this is some High Octane Film making. All joking aside, on Tuesday, High Octane Pictures unloaded the first trailer for its upcoming horror/comedy Killer Sofa; and I truly don’t think the world is ready for the insanity this movie has to offer.

In the official synopsis for Killer Sofa reads: “Francesca always attracted weirdos. When one of her stalkers is found dead, she looks for comfort from her best friend, Maxi. Meanwhile, Maxi’s grandfather, Jack, a disgraced Rabbi, comes across a reclining chair containing a Dybbuk inside. Jack and his voodoo sorceress partner try to find out where the recliner has been delivered while exploring Jack’s newfound gift for communicating with the other world. Meanwhile the reclining chair becomes enchanted by Francesca and starts committing crimes of passion.” If that film description is not enough to hook you into to how insane this film is, check out the trailer below.

While the name Killer Sofa is guaranteed to catch your attention while scrolling for something to watch, the real villain of the film as revealed in the plot synopsis is the Dybbuk. Horror fans may remember the pesky spirit from recent films The Unborn (2009) and The Possession (2012). In those films, the malicious spirit latches onto a young woman and a child; how it becomes intertwined with a sofa (recliner) has yet to be revealed. Killer Sofa is directed by Bernie Rao and will be released by High Octane Pictures in October.
