The newly released trailer for the Millenial Horror/Comedy Tragedy Girls just dropped! We were able to catch this flick at this year’s past Fantasia Festival. Without spoiling, our best description of Tragedy Girls is that it’s a fun, gore-filled slumber party. It’ll definitely be a horror hit among the younger horror crowd; those that were too young to latch onto Wes Craven’s Scream. It’s a modern update on the meta-horror take.
Check out the trailer (above) and new stills (below). Synopsis:
Best friends Sadie and McKayla are on a mission to boost their social media fandom as amateur crime reporters hot on the trail of a deranged local serial killer. After they manage to capture the killer and secretly hold him hostage, they realize the best way to up get scoops on future victims would be to, you know, murder people themselves. As the @TragedyGirls become an overnight sensation and panic grips their small town, can their friendship survive the strain of national stardom? Will they get caught? Will their accounts get verified?
TRAGEDY GIRLS stars Brianna Hildebrand (Deadpool) and Alexandra Shipp (X-Men: Apocalypse) as the pair of social psychopaths. Joining along for the ride is Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games) and Craig Robinson (This Is The End). Robinson also serves as a producer on the film.
The film will screen at this year’s upcoming Fantastic Fest, before opening in theaters on October 20th.
