By now it  is well through September and that can only mean one thing; the beginning of spooky season. If you’re in the Northern hemisphere the feeling is punctuated with crunchy leaves, pumpkin spice lattes, and a rush of new movies and tv shows coming out to help usher in the scares. Luckily for all of us, Netflix is rolling out a whole bunch of new flicks to satisfy its audience. One of those films is In the Shadow of the Moon. This new film seems to be the perfect film to wet your toes with for the oncoming horde of horror we’ve been waiting for. It appears to dance between genres, blending thriller, horror, and science fiction with a loving sprinkle of time travel.

The film focuses on a police officer in Philadelphia and his obsession to bring down a killer with an interesting signature left on the bodies. While it seems like a typical cat and mouse situation turns out to be something so much more that could even lead to a bloody apocalypse. With enough blood in the trailer alone it shows promise.

In the Shadow of the Moon is looking at a release date of September 27, 2019 after it’s premiere at Fantastic Fest. If the premise of time traveling murder that defies all logic, fear not. A star studded cast featuring Boyd Holbrook (Logan) and Michael C. Hall (Dexter) should be enough to get the heart pumping. If by some chance you still aren’t, then rest easy knowing that Jim Mickle is at the helm as director. You may know him from cult films Stake Land and We Are What We Are. With the mind of Mickle and the acting chops of Hall, the film is sure to please, or better yet, deliver the thrills.
