Get ready to party hard and die young in Party Hard, Die Young! This slasher film hails from Austria, and is an official selection at 2018’s Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, known to its friends as BIFFF. Check out the above trailer for Party Hard, Die Young!
The film, which was written by Robert Buschschwenter and Karin Lomot and directed by Dominik Hartl (Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies) tells the story of a group of recent graduates on a trip to Croatia. What starts as a jaunt full of fun and sun takes a dark turn when the young friends start getting murdered.
I have to admire a movie that tells you everything you need to know in its title. Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, for example, gives you a good idea of what you’re getting into. Sharknado 2 is the second movie about sharknadoes. Party Hard, Die Young gives me the hope that this movie will be about all of its characters doing exactly that. As far as a premise for a slasher movie goes, I don’t know that there’s any more tried-and-true than young adults going out to have a good time, and then getting butchered in interesting ways.
This year’s BIFFF, the 36th installment, runs from April 3rd to April 15th. I’d like to go, but Brussels is kind of a long hike from the United States. As a result, I really hope that Party Hard, Die Young gets picked up for distribution in my neck of the woods.
Are you already at BIFFF? Hello, international friend! Make sure you check out Party Hard, Die Young while you’re there! If you’re not at BIFFF, just do what I’m doing: keeping my fingers crossed that Party Hard, Die Young gets picked up for North American distribution, and practicing some basic German phrases so that I won’t have to keep reading the subtitles or rely on English dubbing. It’s such a fine line with foreign films.
